Forced Innoculations In Texas

STEP RIGHT UP GIRLS JUST TAKE A SHOT

And now for something completely different.  Just kidding.  More of the same.  Here we have a story from Texas that will mandate an inoculation for schoolchildren as young as 11 years old.  Please read the story.  I don’t know which part aggravates me the most.

I will start with the part of forcing the inoculations on children to protect them from consequences of sexual promiscuity.  I have no evidence but I will make the supposition that the girls will be given the idea that this will be totally effective vaccination and they will be 100 percent protected, just like the condom.  No one promoting condom use as a perfect protection ever admits the failure rate of condoms.  I don’t know what that rate is; I will have to do some searching for that.  I have heard rates of up to 15 percent, but like I said, I can’t document that at this time.

Here are some relevant excerpts from the above linked article:

Toomey was expected to be able to woo conservative legislators concerned about the requirement stepping on parent's rights and about signaling tacit approval of sexual activity to young girls. Delisi, as head of the House public health committee, which likely would have considered legislation filed by a Democratic member, also would have helped ease conservative opposition.

Perry, a conservative Christian who opposes abortion rights and stem- cell research using embryonic cells, counts on the religious right for his political base.

Just another step in subverting parental rights.

Next problem I have is the ethics issue of Gov. Perry:

Merck is bankrolling efforts to pass laws in state legislatures across the country mandating it Gardasil vaccine for girls as young as 11 or 12. It doubled its lobbying budget in Texas and has funneled money through Women in Government, an advocacy group made up of female state legislators around the country.

Perry has several ties to Merck and Women in Government. One of the drug company's three lobbyists in Texas is Mike Toomey, his former chief of staff. His current chief of staff's mother-in-law, Texas Republican state Rep. Dianne White Delisi, is a state director for Women in Government.

Perry also received $6,000 from Merck's political action committee during his re-election
        campaign

Have the Republicans learned nothing about ethics.  This has political payback all over it.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not misconstrue my issue with forced inoculations as having a problem with Merck’s vaccine.  I think this is a wonderful, magnificent, breakthrough. The number of lives it will eventually save will be huge.  God bless them in this work.  I have a problem with being forced by state decree.

Let's Stop Stealing Childhood From the Kids

WHY WON’T WE ALLOW KIDS TO BE KIDS ANYMORE?

This question has been rolling around my head for a while now.  What has happened that adults must now apply adult behavior standards to children?  It is ridiculous some of the stories that are coming out these days.

Please read here.  I find one of the most disturbing comments in this story is that the school spokesman calls this a “learning experience.”  For who? I find it extraordinarily hard to fathom someone thinking a 5 year old child could sexually harrass anyone.  These are kids, and their childhood is being stolen from them with these adult standards being being applied to them.  It is reminiscent of this story.  A 4 year old sexually harassing a teacher.  Give me a break.  Not to mention the dolls for sale in FAO Schwarz that Kirsten Powers wrote about.  Yeah, that’s a good idea, let’s get our children sexualized at an earlier and earlier age.

The freedom, joy, and innocence of childhood is short enough.  The selfish people that feel we should have this progressive instruction with adult standards (that the kids can’t even comprehend) and rob the kids of that time is a disgrace.  There is plenty of time as they get older to learn about all the problems in this world.  I think back to when I was a kid.  I treasure those memories.  I was hyperactive, I always wanted to be outside playing, but at least back then that was normal.  Not a cause for medicating a kid.  Dodgeball, tag, playing war…..I did all these things growing up as an outlet for my energy.  I did not grow up to be Jack the Ripper.  I like to think of myself as a relatively normal responsible adult.

It just seems the Big Brother system has other ideas.  If you were a parent, how would you feel about this story?  Big Brother robbed these kids and their parent’s of something precious, that they will never get back.

Here is a small sample from the story.  We are talking about 9 and 10 year olds.

Yesterday the trust's director Ruth Merttens, defended the content.

She said: "I feel sorry for the teacher concerned.

"But we produce the worksheets and it is up to teachers how they use them in class."

She added: "I don't want to upset anybody but I would say by the age of ten it seems unlikely that a child wouldn't be aware of Santa's imaginary nature."

Last week a primary school teacher was sacked for telling her young class that Santa does not exist.

The supply teacher apparently decided the pupils - some as young as nine - were too old to believe in Father Christmas.

The teacher, who has not been named, is believed to have told the class at Boldmere Junior School, in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands: "All of you are old enough to know there is no Father Christmas or fairies.

If you ask your parents to tell you they will say there is no such thing.

The arrogance of these words is just staggering.  I know better than you.  You have no say in the matter.  We need to just let kids be kids.

The Nativity Story

Merry Christmas everyone (if anybody is reading this).  Welcome to my first attempt at having my own blogsite.  Obviously, this is my first post, so bear with me, hopefully I will get better.

I went to see The Nativity Story last night.  I found it to be a wonderfully made film on the birth of the Lord.  I do not go to the theaters too often.  In fact, I think the last movie I saw in the theater was Mel Gibson's The Passion (which I loved).  I would encourage everybody to go see this movie, if you haven't already.  The movie incorporates all the relevant portions of Christ's birth from the Gospels, then adds storytelling to give us an idea of what The Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph may have gone through, during this period.  The movie puts in to focus, the true miracle and gift that we are celebrating at this time of year.  I can guarantee that this movie will be added to my DVD collection when it is released.

I shall be adding posts, in the future, on whatever catches my eye at that time.
